Joanna Karatzas is a native New Yorker, painter and printmaker.

She’s been painting and journaling since childhood but it was her time with artist William T. Williams and historian Jack Flam at Brooklyn College that was the catalyst for what would come next and eventually led her to printmaking at The Art Students League with Sylvie Covey.

Her recent work, “The Couriers’ Suite”, a series of monoprints last exhibited at the Gallery at The Union League Club in New York City, is an ode to the messenger. These works on paper deliver multilayered meanings, combining printed matter, ephemera and the artist’s etchings.
